Description

This course is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification specifically designed for those looking to progress their career in the emergency services, ambulance services, event medical sector and high-risk workplaces. Recognised by many as an Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) equivalent. This course is for those who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide prehospital care to patients requiring emergency care/treatment.

The qualification is accredited by Qualsafe Awards (the UK’s largest Awarding Organisation for first aid) and is clinically endorsed by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh - Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (FPHC). The Level 4 Certificate also meets the FPHC criteria at descriptor level ‘E’ on the Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) Skills Framework.

The entry requirements for the FREC4 is that the learner must be at least 18 years of age on the first day of training.  Learners must have successfully completed the FREC3 course and provide continuing professional development (CPD) profile containing 118 hours of study and/or contextualised practice before they can begin the FREC4.  The CPD profile must contain an accurate report on the activities the learner has undertaken to improve their practice.  A record of study can include a variety of activities such as reading journals, social media posts or news articles, preparing presentations, attending CPD sessions, work related training, researching and writing assignments and watching videos.  A CPD profile including contextualised practice should include a variety of activities that reflect the learners continued professional development of skills and knowledge associated in their role.  Activities may include patient stimulation, mentored practice, related training and work experience.
